Major making the most of City chance

Cape Town City striker Lehlohonolo Majoro says he’s enjoying his spell in the Mother City as he aims to make the most of the opportunity presented to him.
Despite netting 15 goals in 26 starts in two-and-a-half seasons with the Buccaneers, ‘Major’ was deemed surplus to requirements and found himself down the pecking order at Mayfair, before linking up with former coach Eric Tinkler in Cape Town.
Majoro says he was surprised to be transfer-listed from the Soweto giants, before explaining his reasoning for joining The Citizens.
“Every team has their own criteria,” he tells KickOff.com. “It took me by surprise to be transfer-listed, and came as a bit of a shock. But I know no-one is guaranteed of a spot – even here at Cape Town City, they could come tomorrow and say they don’t want me anymore.
“So City was the best option for me as there weren’t many expectations, but they wanted to build a team, achieve things and write a good history. And what better way for a person who moved from a big club who was regarded as down and out to come join a team that was starting, and get a sense of belonging.”
With five goals to his name, as well as a Telkom Knockout trophy, Majoro feels he has already etched his name into his new club’s history books as he strives to continue delivering for the PSL newbies.
“I was given this opportunity by Cape Town City, and will one day look back and say I was there at the start of Cape Town City and was part of them when they won their first trophy,” he says. “It’s about making history and making the most of opportunities you have.”
Table-topping City take on Chippa United in their next league clash on Monday, 3 April.
