Mamelodi Sundowns star Percy Tau is relishing his role as a lone-striker and welcomes the responsibility of creating and scoring chances for the team.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed a stunning season with the Brazilians, playing as a winger, lone-striker and occasionally a 'false-nine', managing nine goals in all competitions for his club thus far.

The Bafana Bafana striker, who netted his first international goal after coming on as a substitute against Guinea-Bissau last weekend, says he enjoys playing in various positions in order to learn more about his game, but admits his preferred role is leading the line of attack.

"I play as a lone-striker, false striker, number ten or winger, so I enjoy learning everyday," said Tau.

"But playing as a lone-striker is a position that I prefer because it has a lot of responsibility, and I enjoy the responsibility of playing upfront, making sure I keep the line deep to help the team create chances and score goals.

"It gives broader responsibility to me as a player and helps me focus on making runs and trying to stay in between [the defence line], trying to score goals and trying to assist, and I prefer those things.

"The harder it gets, the more I learn. I learn to get better and I develop, so I enjoy those things.

"I've played most of my career there [as a striker], I've played as the lone striker and false striker, so it's always been me there upfront."
