SuperSport United midfielder Thabo Mnyamane believes hard work at club level will eventually lead to a regular role in the Bafana Bafana squad.
Mnyamane was handed his second international cap on Saturday after coming on as an 80th-minute substitute for Keagan Dolly as Bafana beat Guinea-Bissau 3-1 in Durban courtesy of goals from Kermit Erasmus, Percy Tau and Andile Jali.
And Mnyamane believes that with the new setup at Bafana, which saw six debutants named in the squad by interim coach Owen da Gama, everyone will get their chance on merit.
“You can see it’s a new setup, a new slate and a fresh start for everyone. Everyone needs to put his name in the hat. In the end, hard work pays off and they [the technical team] will select the team on merit," said the Matsatsantsa midfielder.
“Obviously I would like to be a regular in the Bafana setup but you need to put in the hard work domestically so that you could be selected," he added.
Having now broken through the Bafana barrier, Mnyamane is eager to start making a name for himself at club level, where he is targeting a run at both the Absa Premiership and Nedbank Cup titles.
“I want to get my first silverware in professional football. With that said, I want to help my team win the league and retain the Nedbank Cup," Mnyamane concluded.
