Dean Furman: Bafana must dominate at home against Guinea-Bissau and Angola

Posted: 25 March 2017 Time: 12:25

Dean Furman says SAFA technical director Neil Tovey has impressed the need for Bafana Bafana to dominate on home soil.

Bafana today host Guinea-Bissau at Moses Mabhida Stadium at 15h00, before contesting another friendly with Angola at East London's Buffalo City Stadium on Tuesday (19h00).

Furman and Holland-based star Kamohelo Mokotjo will police the engine room against the Wild Dogs as Bafana use the contests as preparation for the 2019 AFCON and 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

"We had Neil Tovey coming in the other day and he said one of the things that we have to fight for us is our home form," said Furman, who is aware the new Bafana coach will likely have an eye on proceedings this afternoon.

"We have to start putting teams, nations to bed at home. They must come here with the fans behind us and make sure that it is very difficult for a team to come here. For us that is what is important.

"Despite only being a friendly, we want to win and breed confidence. We want to get the fans behind us and that is what we are hoping to do on Saturday."

Furman says Bafana are happy to be back in Durban, having booked their place in the 2015 AFCON with a victory over Sudan in the coastal city in November 2014.

"We always love coming here to Durban. The hotel is great, the people are great and we usually get a great crowd here at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

"Very often we put in a good performance and we are excited for the game on Saturday. Our build-up has been spot on, training has been good.

"We played the game against Golden Arrows the other day and it was a great run out for us."
