Thabo Mnyamane eager to use CAF experience at Bafana Bafana

SuperSport United midfielder Thabo Mnyamane is hoping to take his experience gained in the CAF Confederation Cup to Bafana Bafana.

Mnyamane is amongst the 25 men called up by Bafana interim coach Owen Da Gama ahead of two international friendlies against Guinea-Bissau and Angola over the next 10 days.

The former University of Pretoria midfielder is hot off a full 90 minutes of Confederation Cup action, where he helped Matsatsantsa beat Al-Ahly Shendi 4-0 in Tshwane on Sunday to progress to the playoff round ahead of the group stages.

The 24-year-old says his experience in the continental club competition will put him in good stead to compete for a regular place in the national setup, and hopes to put it to good use in training this week.

"It's good experience, obviously for me, because it's my first time playing in Africa. It's always been my dream to play in Africa," said Mnyamane.

"It makes you see football from a diferent perspective. Bafana Bafana plays African teams so, for me, it helps me understand how to be more strong and more physical because African teams play their hearts out, so it helps me as an individual [personally] and a player."

Mnyamane, who has proven an influential signing for Stuart Baxter's side this season – managing seven goals and seven assists in all competitions thus far, reported for national duty on Sunday and is currently with the team in Durban.

"It's an honor and privilege to don the national team jersey. It feels special. I am looking forward to the camp and the two games [against Guniea-Bissau and Angola]," he concluded.
