Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is backing Bidvest Wits to beat Egyptian giants Al-Ahly in their CAF Champions League first-round decider in Johannesburg on Sunday.
Mosimane believes the Students, who lost the opening leg 1-0 in Cairo, were smart to stage the return duel in the afternoon at Bidvest Stadium.
"We did that against Zamalek," said Mosimane, referring to when Sundowns took on the White Knights en-route to continental honours last year.
"All the games in Egypt are in the evening, so play during the day. All the games in Kampala and elsewhere are during the day, play in the evening. You must use the advantage. Wits are smart."
Mosimane was encouraged to see Wits mentor Gavin Hunt start speedy strikers Gabadinho Mhango and Phakamani Mahlambi against the Egyptians last weekend.
"They did well in Egypt. When I look at the Wits game, I look at our game against Zamalek. They had right specimens, right tempo, quick players, Phakamani and Mhango. You must play like that against the Arabs, they are always big and slow at the back. So Hunt got it right. Why not, they can win, but they have to score," concludes Mosimane, who has little time for excuses heading into Downs' Champions League assignment on Friday.
