Laffor: We need to forget last year

Mamelodi Sundowns forward Anthony Laffor has urged his teammates to put last year's CAF Champions League triumph behind them and focus on doing well again this time around.
The reigning continental champions have travelled to Uganda for their first-round second-leg tie against Kampala City Council on Friday, after winning the first leg 2-1 in Tshwane last week.
With a group stage spot up for grabs this weekend, the Liberia international says history will count for nothing if they are to advance in the competition this year, as he also calls for humility.
"I think we need to just forget about what happened last year, because what happened last year is history," Laffor said.
"We need to put it behind us and concentrate on what our coaches want us to do. Every game is going to be important and we need to win our games, keep our feet on the ground and forget about being the reigning African champs.
"If we don't concentrate on our games I don't think we'll be African champs again this year, so we need to forget about last year and concentrate on the competition now."
Having experienced the harsh realities of travelling into Africa last year, Laffor believes it won't be as much of a challenge this time around and warns against complacency as title holders.
"We've been through that [the mental challenges] and we just need to forget about last year because this year will be different," he added.
"People [other teams] will want to take advantage because we are the current champions, but I think we've got the experience already and we just need to build on what happened last year, analyse our strengths and see what happens.
"Mental strength is not something we'll need to worry about, we just need to play football, that's all."
