Late fitness tests for Bhele, Khenyeza

AmaZulu coach Joey Antipas will make late calls whether to field veteran strikers Siyabonga Nomvethe and Mabhuti Khenyeza in tonight's Nedbank Cup clash at Platinum Stars.
Usuthu, who lost in the final of this competition in 2010 to Bidvest Wits, will visit Dikwena at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in the last-32.
Both Nomvethe and Khenyeza were ruled out by the coach during the Nedbank Cup press conference last week Wednesday, but trained with the rest of team and finished last Friday's session unscathed.
Usuthu media officer Brilliant Mkhathini has since revealed the coach is still to make a final decision on both players but insists he will not risk the pair if they are not at full fitness.
"The coach said he won't risk them [Nomvethe and Khenyeza] if they are not feeling okay so it kind of a 50-50 situation," Mkhathini tells KickOff.com.
Khenyeza, who previously won the Nedbank Cup in 2012 when he was at Supersport United, is dealing with an ankle injury, while 'Bhele', who has scored 13 NFD goals this season, has been troubled by a tight muscle in his leg.
Nevertheless, Usuthu coach Antipas, whose side got their first win of the year against Mbombela United almost two weeks ago, says if the pair do feature against Cavin Johnson's side, their experience will be invaluable if they are to shoot down their PSL opposition.
"Bhele and Mabhuti play massive roles to the young players. What we are trying to do is to use those two players as the stepping stone to the younger players," reveals Antipas.
"We use them as the role models, as examples, and definitely they are players with experience amassed over the years and they are definitely key players for us."
Kickoff time tonight is 19h30.
