Maritzburg United have moved quickly to tie down Zimbabwean striker Evans Rusike as they look to repel clubs chasing their star player.
The Team of Choice have warded off interest from the PSL big-guns by taking up a two-year option on the 26-year-old's contract, the club confirmed on Tuesday.
Maritzburg chairman Farook Kadodia has continually insisted that the frontman is not for sale, with the move now confirming this.
"I was happy to join the club last season and help to survive relegation," Rusike told the club's website. "Now that the club has exercised the option, I have to stay focused.
"I have a job here. It’s an opportunity for me to keep improving on my game."
The club's marketing and communications manager Brian Zuma added: "Evans is our property and we're still expecting a lot from him.
"He is not for sale until the time is right, and if and when that happens, proper channels will have to be followed.”
