Cape Town City midfielder Mpho Matsi says they need to have the “right mentality” when they face Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League side Acornbush United today in the Nedbank Cup.

City’s neighbours Ajax Cape Town suffered a Nedbank Cup exit to another team from the third tier on Saturday when they lost to KwaDukuza United, and Matsi wants to avoid that.

“What I’ve learnt about the Nedbank Cup is that there’s no smaller team … each and every team that we play against, anything can happen,” Matsi tells

“So we are going there with the right mentality, playing as professionals, and coming back victorious.”

Matsi also said the game is about pressure and as a professional player you need to handle pressure.

“The game is about pressure, so if we put ourselves under pressure then we will be killing ourselves,” he adds.

“You have to go there with the right mentality of going to play against quality players, not thinking that it is just going to be a walk in the park. We have to go there with the right mentality … and that’s the most important thing.”

United host City in the Nedbank Cup last 32 at Kabokweni Stadium, with kick-off set for 15h00.
