Bidvest Wits midfielder Xola Mlambo believes the continental experience of some of the club’s players could make the difference when they face Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League.
The Clever Boys head to Egypt for the first-leg of their last-32 clash against the Red Devils on Saturday, before hosting the Egyptian champions in South Africa a week later.
And, despite coming up against the eight-time CAF Champions League winners, former Chippa United playmaker Mlambo is hoping the knowledge of Wits’ veteran players can help them see off the African titans.
“We have players who have been in the game for some time; players who have faced Al Ahly before – the likes of Daine Klate, Moeneeb Josephs and Sifiso Myeni,” Mlambo told IOL.
“They have been there. They make everyone’s job easier. They have shared their experiences with all of us. It will be a good experience to go to Al Ahly and I am sure whoever will be left behind will be disappointed,” he added.
Wits head into this weekend's El-Salam Stadium encounter as Premiership leaders, having climbed top on Tuesday, despite their goalless draw against Chippa United.
