Bidvest Wits kept up their title challenge with a 3-1 Absa Premiership victory over Bloemfontein Celtic at Bidvest Stadium on Friday.
Thulani Hlatshwayo put the Clever Boys ahead after just eight minutes, heading in Nazeer Allie's cross following a long throw.
Kabelo Mahlasela pulled back an equaliser for Phunya Sele Sele just after the half-hour mark after miscommunication between Darren Keet and Buhle Mkhwanazi allowed Mahlasela to poke the ball out of the goalkeeper's hands and slot into an open net.
Mkhwanazi put Wits back into the lead with a headed goal just after the hour-mark before Gabadinho Mhango got in on the act with another header on 73 minutes, turning in Daine Klate's cross.
Celtic nearly pulled a goal back just moments later when Lyle Lakay struck the upright via a deflection off Hlatshwayo, and goalkeeper Darren Keet also kept out Mabaso after his poor clearance went straight to the striker.
Wits held on to record a victory that keeps them a point behind leaders Cape Town City with two games in hand. Celtic, meanwhile, remain just four points clear of the relegation zone.
