Ajax Cape Town’s suspended captain Travis Graham tells KickOff.com that a positive result against Kaizer Chiefs at the Athlone Stadium on Saturday night could well be the turning point of their disappointing season.
Graham misses the game having accumulated four yellow cards this season, but believes his side can claim the win in his absence.
“Most definitely, I think we could come up trumps,” Graham said. “We’ve sort hit a rock early in the second round.
“After two defeats in our earlier games [5-0 at BidVest Wits and 2-0 at home to Cape Town City] we came back on a good note with a point against Polokwane City [1-1].
“That gave us a bit of confidence as well, especially the way we played, and it was an away game as well.
“A good result against Chiefs could definitely be a turning point for us. It will give us a massive boost going forward.”
Graham didn’t shy away from sharing his disappointment at missing out on the match.
“Personally, it’s a big loss to me you know. I think any player would feel like this. Who wouldn’t want to play in front of a packed crowd against a big club like Chiefs?
“But I’m confident whoever steps in will hopefully be able to do the job as we’re a team and we play as one. The boys have shown a lot of commitment in training sessions.
“Hopefully we can take that onto the field and do it for our fans and staff,” Graham concluded.
