Themba Zwane expects high-scoring Mamelodi Sundowns-Bidvest Wits clash

Posted: 25 February 2017 Time: 12:15

Mamelodi Sundowns winger Themba Zwane says he's expecting plenty goals when his side face Bidvest Wits at Loftus Versveld Stadium this evening.

Loftus has of late proved to be a tough ground for opposition teams this season, with Orlando Pirates bearing the brunt Masandawana’s ruthless attack after their 6-0 humbling, while TP Mazembe were also beaten at the venue in the CAF Super Cup last week.

Other clubs who have come away with nothing in the traditional rugby stadium this season are Kaizer Chiefs, Free State Stars and strugglers Highlands Park.

When Sundowns hosted Wits last season at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, The Brazilians ran out 4-2 victors, with Zwane expecting a tough yet high-scoring game again this time around.

"Wits will be a tough game and obviously we need that one, but we are ready for any challenge," he said.

“I'm expecting to see lots of goals, and if we can score two more than them, it’s enough for us."

'Mshishi' seems to have benefitted from the departure of Keagan Dolly to French League 1 side Montpellier with three goals in the last four league matches since the turn of the year, acknowledging his good form and vowing to maintain it to help the team going forward.

"Yeah, I feel like an important player because even if I come on as a substitute, I try to make a change, and if I start the game I always try to get a goal," he said.

"There was a time when I wasn't playing, but I didn't look down and I was doing extra work, working hard on my game. I then told myself I'll get the chance.

"The only thing I'm focusing on now is to keep up my performance and keep scoring goals - that is the only thing, to keep on working hard."

Kick-off against the Clever Boys is set for 18:00.
