Mandla Masango insists SuperSport United cannot dwell on past performances

SuperSport United winger Mandla Masango insists he and his side cannot dwell on past performances as they prepare for their next Absa Premiership against Highlands Park.

The 27-year-old produced a Man-of-the-Match display against Maritzburg United midweek, scoring two goals in the space of two minutes in a comprehensive 4-1 victory.

Yet the Bafana Bafana international, although pleased with his performance, says he can’t think too much of it with games coming in thick and fast for his side.

“I don't want to dwell on this … this is just another game and I'm looking forward to the next one,” he said.

"Obviously it's good [to score two goals]. We celebrated and made our sing-song after the game.

"But now we must focus on the next game; football is like that. Football is not based on history, but on the future."

Highlands Park, who are winless in five games and sit second from bottom, are SuperSport’s next opponents, yet 'Bullet' says underestimating their opposition based on the log standings is dangerous.

"It won't be an easy game,” he said. “Obviously they want to win - there's no team that doesn't want to win, even though it looks easy from the outside that we scored four goals against Maritzburg," he said.

"Highlands want to be in a respectable position, but we want to push as hard as we can."

Kick-off is set for 20:15.
