SuperSport's Furman pleased with return of Kekana, Mashamaite, Ritchie, Brockie, Booysen and Lakay

SuperSport United ace Dean Furman is delighted the likes of Tefu Mashamaite, Jeremy Brockie and Fagrie Lakay have shaken off injuries, and expects the latter to be a "huge asset" going forward.

SuperSport tonight host Maritzburg United in the Absa Premiership at Lucas Moripe Stadium, having seen off Madagascan outfit Elgeco Plus in their CAF Confederation Cup opener at the same venue on the weekend.

Furman feels it is crucial Matsatsantsa - who trail log leaders Kaizer Chiefs by four points but with two games in hand midway through the season - raise their efforts after drawing 0-0 with struggling Free State Stars in their previous domestic assignment.

He told his club's website: "It is vital for us to return to winning ways in the league. We put in a very disappointing performance in our last outing with Free State Stars and we have to put it right against Maritzburg United and get back in touch with top of the league.

"It is great to see so many players returning from injury. Grant Kekana, Tefu Mashamaite, Keegan Ritchie, Jeremy Brockie, Mario Booysen and Fagrie Lakay have all had injury problems and it was really pleasing to see them come through the game unscathed.

"Having these players back is a huge boost to the squad. It’s great to have Fagrie back on the scoresheet. His pace is blistering and will give any defence problems. He can be a huge asset to us in this second half of the season.

"'Masha' was excellent at the back. Alongside Mario, they were both very solid and it’s great to see them both looking strong and playing the full 90 minutes.

"Maritzburg are a tough side with some very good players. I’m sure they will be aiming for a win, however, we have had some success against them in the last two seasons and will be looking for much of the same again," concluded the Bafana Bafana international.
