Mohamed Aoudou resurfaces in Iraq after swift passing through at Free State Stars

KickOff.com can reveal Benin striker Mohamed Aoudou has joined Iraq club Al-Shorta following his short-lived stint with Free State Stars.

Aoudou was signed by Ea Lla Koto in December last year but was then surprisingly released last month just prior to the close of the January transfer window without playing a single game.

The 27-year-old was signed by Stars at the recommendation of former Stars coach Giovanni Solinas, who knew him from his time in Algeria, but was subsequently shown the door after the appointment of Serame Letsoaka early this year.

Michel Sinha, the player’s agent, confirms that his client has signed a short-term deal in Iraq, with a plan of moving him back to the PSL next season.

“He has signed on a six-month contract in Iraq following his departure from [Free State] Stars, where there were challenges. The plan is to bring him back to the PSL next season, and there are clubs that we are talking to,” Sinha tells KickOff.com.

Though Aoudou signed last year, he was unable to play as he had already featured for Algerian club CR Belouizdad earlier in the season, and would only be eligible for registration during the January window.

However, when the mid-season transfer window arrived, Stars changed coaches which led to Aoudou being released, along with Reabetsoe Rakoti, Tshepo Mothiba, David Booysen, Johnny Mathole, Brandon Dean and Uganda forward Hamis Rizza.
