Joseph Molangoane admits his contractual dispute with Chippa United prior to his move to Kaizer Chiefs was a draining experience that has helped him grow into a human being that is closer to God.
Molangoane’s split from Chippa was so dirty it was only settled via the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber at the end of November after dragging on for five months.
‘Tight’ eventually made his debut in December – ironically against Chippa – and has since gone on to start four games (plus two substitute appearances) and score one goal.
“For me I knew that it was going to come to an end because I didn’t sign a contract with them [Chippa United] but I cannot go into details about that because it is now gone and I am a Kaizer Chiefs player. But then for me it took so much out of me and it wasn’t easy for me,” says Molangoane.
The 28-year-old notes that keeping active by training helped through that phase which also strengthened his faith.
“I wasn’t waiting at home doing nothing because I was here at work every day. Every day I was coming to work because I had signed a contract with Chiefs and I never signed a contract with Chippa. So I was at work every day. I have learnt that through the Almighty everything comes to where it should be. I tried, it wasn’t easy. The experience that I had, I will always keep it to myself and it will make me a better person not only in football but outside of football as well because you can’t just expect things to go your way at that time, especially when you have challenges like what happened at Chippa,” he says.
Molangoane is on a two-and-a-half year contract at Chiefs.
