Happy Jele explains why he happily donned the goalkeeper gloves for Orlando Pirates

After Orlando Pirates suffered a narrow defeat to Bidvest Wits, Happy Jele offered some insight as to why he willingly shouldered the burden of standing in as goalkeeper at the Orlando Stadium.
With Jackson Mabokgwane dismissed after handling outside his area the Buccaneers were left in a pickle as they had made all three of their changes and an out-fielder, in the form of Jele, was forced to don a green jersey and mind the goal.
However, the player, who is of course a defender by trade, says he had no qualms in taking on the responsibility as it is expected of him to display leadership on the field.
"We need to show character on the field of play. We lost our 'keeper [Jackson Mabokgwane] and our three substitutions were done so I had to show the leadership and just take the jersey and be the 'keeper," he told SuperSport TV after the game.
"I think what happened last weekend [the loss to Mamelodi Sundowns] was miserable for the team and it wakes the team up. Today we wanted to show character [to prove] that we are committed to the team and we want to win. You saw the performance today was better than the previous game and we need to build from this game.
"With the way we played today it [a win] is going to come. We need to show character and that we mean business."
