Economic Freedom Fighter chief commander Julius Malema has condemned the violence displayed by Orlando Pirates fans at Loftus Stadium.
Pirates suffered humiliation at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday, losing 6-0, which sparked a bad reaction from some fans who resorted to damaging property and violence.
Malema, a known Buccaneers supporter, has voiced his disapproval of the actions of the perpetrators while also finding some humour in what is happening at the club at the moment.
“We don’t agree with violence. Even what Pirates did, we don’t agree with those things,” said Malema at a news briefing.
“I want to write a letter to PSL to suggest that this thing of scores, we must agree … you can score up to what? Because it’s not right those things we are doing of going to six, seven,” he joked.
“It’s an unacceptable thing which we need to regulate so that the integrity of the club is not wiped away. Pirates is a very big club and must be respected,” added ‘Juju’.
Pirates are set to host Bidvest Wits at Orlando Stadium tonight.
