Pirates were humiliated by Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday, in a match marred by violence in the stands which left at least 13 fans in hospital.

"Six goals in one match is not acceptable," says Mhlongo, who revealed after the game caretaker coach Augusto Palacios was taking strain with the result.

"But what can we do... we have to move forward and try to win a trophy for our supporters and say sorry.

"We just have to move forward and win the games that are coming," adds the former Buccaneers midfielder.

Pirates have called a press conference for today where they are expected to reveal changes in their technical team.

Palacios took over the reins after Muhsin Ertugral resigned in November straight after a 6-1 loss to SuperSport United, which at the time matched the club's worst ever defeat.

Bucs lost by the same scoreline to Sundowns in the BP Top 8 in 1990.
