Orlando Pirates have confirmed Brighton Mhlongo will have a scan on the injury that has ruled him out of tomorrow's clash with Mamelodi Sundowns.

KickOff.com earlier reported that Mhlongo would miss the game at Loftus Versfeld after taking damage in the goalless draw with Platinum Stars in Rustenburg on Wednesday.

Issa Sarr is also set for a late fitness test after likewise sustaining an injury against Dikwena, but fellow defensive midfielder Edwin Gyimah is back at training following his participation at the African Nations Cup with Ghana.

Bucs have since released a statement on their website, which reads: 'Goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo is set to miss out Orlando Pirates’ next league match.

'The Bucs medical team have confirmed to Orlandopiratesfc.com that Bucs’ number one goal minder will not be available for selection when Pirates lock horns with current league champions Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

'Mhlongo, who was stretchered off the field in Pirates’ disappointing goalless draw against Platinum Stars on Tuesday suffered a leg injury and is due to undergo a scan to determine the full extent of his injury. In the absence of Mhlongo, head coach Augusto Palacios will need to decide on either Jackson Mabokgwane and Siyabonga Mpontshane.

'Meanwhile, Issa Sarr also looks set to miss the clash due to an injury he also suffered in the goalless draw with Platinum Stars.

'The hard working, hard tackling midfielder will undergo a late fitness test.'
