Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela says new signing Gustavo Páez has earned his place in the match-day squad for tonight's clash with Free State Stars through good performances at training.

Chiefs recruited the Venezuelan striker in the January transfer window on a two-and-a-half year deal.

“Gustavo is available for selection,” Komphela told the club's website.

“He has earned himself a place in the squad by good performances at the training ground. We have done all what we needed to do during the break to get the team ready.”

Komphela believes his unit has enough information to overcome a transitional Stars outfit under the tutelage of new coach Serame Letsoaka.

“We are aware of the changes in their set-up which makes them a bit of a closed book. They have signed new players and brought in a new coach in Serame Letsoaka. We will rely on our strengths and observe their plan as the game progresses. However, the intelligence that we have on them should be enough to win the match.”

The former Ea Lla Koto boss also revealed Togolese hitman Camaldine Abraw is still working on his fitness following a lengthy layoff through injury, while the mid-season break has been beneficial to midfielders George Lebese and William Twala.

“The break gave players like George Lebese and William Twala a chance to recover from an assortment of injuries they suffered before the break. We are still waiting though for Camaldine Abraw to get his match fitness after a long layoff.”

Kick-off is at 19h30 at FNB Stadium, with Amakhosi winning the reverse fixture 2-0 thanks to goals from Michelle Katsvairo and Willard Katsande.

The Glamour Boys are fourth on the table with 24 points from 15 games - a point behind Cape Town City, Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United.

Letsoaka's side are 14th in the standings with 14 points - a point above the drop zone.
