Lorenzo Gordinho wants more success with Kaizer Chiefs

Posted: 6 February 2017 Time: 21:14

Kaizer Chiefs defender Lorenzo Gordinho says he’s hungry for more success after being awarded the Absa Player of the Month award for August and September 2016 on Monday.

Gordinho picked up the individual accolade for his sterling performances at both ends of the park at the start of the campaign, yet insists there’s still more to come.

“I’ve been consistent and, most importantly, being able to help the team win games,” he was quoted as saying on his club’s official website. “I’ve been scoring goals which is one of the areas I have been working on.

“This award will make me to work even harder,” he continued. “This is not the end of it. It's like tasting something good, you want more of it. It also shows that hard work pays off.”

The 22-year-old then spoke of his trail period in Denmark last month, before re-iterating his delight in extending his contract with the Glamour Boys.

“It was a good experience,” he said. “It was good to see how they do things in other countries. The players at both clubs were mentally very strong, which was interesting to see. It was also nice to be able to play against German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim in a friendly during the trial.

“I am happy and plan to continue what I have started,” he said of his contract extension. “I want to be part of history and that means winning trophies with Kaizer Chiefs.”

“We can't wait to get the ball rolling,” he said. “Stars are a hard working team. They are dangerous, but we are ready and we want to continue where we left off before the break.”
