Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi says he always felt part of the team when they competed in the CAF Champions last year despite not featuring in the competition.
Vilakazi did not take part in Sundowns' magnificent run where they were crowned champions as he was cup-tied.
But he is available to play against TP Mazembe this month in the Super Cup and when the club starts their defence of the Champions League.
"Ever since I signed I felt part of the team. Watching from the sidelines the only thing I could do was to support the team," says Vilakazi.
"It was important for me to support from the outside. If I had to encourage another player while I was outside it's support as well. So for me giving support was the most important thing and it made me feel good that at least I'm giving something to the team."
With the PSL set to resume next week after going on recess for the Africa Cup of Nations, Vilakazi feels the Brazilians are ready for the challenges ahead.
"It's a busy period but we've a good squad with quality players. Players which are very prepared for this hectic schedule," Vilakazi says.
"This is a very interesting part for us and we've worked very hard and are ready for the schedule ahead."
