AmaZulu's Stevy Nzambe back from fractured skull

Posted: 3 February 2017 Time: 13:41

Defender Stevy Nzambe is eager to help AmaZulu gain promotion to the topflight after spending two months on the sidelines with a fractured skull.

Nzambe suffered the injury in his team's 2-0 league loss to Real Kings at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in November last year.

The knock ruled the Gabon international out of contention for the 2017 African Nations Cup, which concludes in his country on Sunday when Cameroon face seven-time champions Egypt.

“They called me last year to check up on me. I’m fine now. I’m training and in friendly matches I’m working hard because I want to play and help AmaZulu get back to the PSL,” Nzambe told his club's website.

“I missed out this year in the AFCON because of my injury but God willing next time I’ll be part of it.”

Nzambe added of Gabon's first-round exit from the CAF event: “The problem is we couldn’t score, but its part of football. They have to push themselves and improve in future. The coach is still new in the team. Gabon has good players they just need more time together as a team.”

Usuthu, in fourth place on the NFD table with 23 points from 15 games, will resume their campaign against University of Pretoria at TUKS Stadium at 15h30 on February 11.
