Golden Arrows sign ex-Orlando Pirates striker Chiukepo Msowoya

Posted: 31 January 2017 Time: 10:01

KickOff.com can confirm that Golden Arrows have completed the signing of former Orlando Pirates striker Chiukepo Msowoya.

The Malawian trained with Abafana Bes'thende for close to two weeks with the aim of returning to South Africa. He was said to have left his previous side Nyasa Big Bullets in his homeland without their knowledge, but it seems that has all been ironed out.

Arrows CEO Gordon Masondo says Msowoya has been signed and they are now awaiting work permits for him and Zimbabwean recruit Knox Mutizwa, who has joined on loan from Bidvest Wits.

"We have signed Msowoya and we are only waiting for the work permit, and also Mutizwa," Masondo tells this website.

The 28-year-old, who joins compatriot Limbikani Mzava at Arrows, won the 2010/11 league title, 2010 MTN8 and 2011 Nedbank Cup with Pirates, while he also had a brief spell on loan at Platinum Stars.

Meanwhile, Masondo says the club are in no rush to sign defender Brandon Dean, who was released by Free State Stars during this transfer window.

"Actually Brandon is a free agent, so there's no time frame and he's still training with the club," he reveals.

"Initially we didn't push ourselves on to him to see an instant result. He's been given time to train with the team without pressure on his shoulders."

Msowoya will now fight for a striking role with Lerato Lamola, Mutizwa and Sibusiso Sibeko when Arrows resume their league campaign against SuperSport United on February 8 at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
