Thanda Royal Zulu close in on Baroka goalkeeper Xolani Ngcobo

National First Division log leaders Thanda Royal Zulu are closing in on Baroka FC goalkeeper Xolani Ngcobo.

Ngcobo, who was playing for neighbours Royal Eagles last season, has been training with AmaBhubesi during the club’s friendly matches in Durban.

He left Eagles at the start of this season to join National First Division champions Baroka, but after just one substitute appearance in the league so far this campaign, is seemingly not in the club’s plans for the second half of the season.

Thanda are now waiting for Ngcobo to complete his paperwork with Jacob Sakala’s side, with club COO Thembinkosi Biyela revealing he will be signed once he sorts all his personal issues with his current club – something they hope will be finalised before the transfer window closes next week.

“For now we haven’t signed him because he has some personal issues that he needs to resolve with his previous team, but as soon as he sorts that out we will sign him,” Biyela tells KickOff.com.

"A player like Xolani, you cannot say he’s on trial because we know him … we need him and the technical team needs him, so what is left is for him to resolve his personal issues and once that is out of the way, then we will sign him.’’

Biyela added: “We have agreed everything with him and only the dotted lines need to be signed, so I think when the time comes for the window to be closed, everything will be sorted out. We as the club have agreed everything to finalise and sign. I don’t think that will happen after the transfer window period.’’

The Pietermaritzburg-born keeper, who was unable to dethrone Oscarine Masuluke in goals for Bakgaga, a key figure for the club’s  last season promotion and this campaign, will be fourth player to join Thanda following the club’s signings of Nkosinathi Zitha, Philani Cele and Thabiso Nkoana.
