Okwuosa, Chabalala swap official

Chippa United have officially announced the arrival of Justice Chabalala from Orlando Pirates, and the completion of a swap deal for James Okwuosa and Marc van Heerden. broke the news of this move last Sunday, and it has now been announced on Chippa's official channels. Nkosinathi Mthiyane will also be joining Chippa United along with Chabalala, Sello Japhta and Donald Mokondelela.

Thembinkosi Lorch has also returned to Parktown following his loan spell with the Chilli Boys and scored in a friendly for Bucs on Thursday.

Mpengesi paid a glowing tribute to towering Nigerian centre-back Okwuosa for serving the club with aplomb.

“He has been a true servant for the football club. He is a player who has worn his heart on his sleeve every time he takes to the field donning the blue and white of Chippa United. James represented the club on 91 occasions and was going to be the first player to play 100 games for the club. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for the contribution he has made to Chippa United and wish him all the best on his new journey,” said Mpengesi.

Van Heerden and Lorch joined Chippa before the start of the current season: “I am pleased for Marc, for a player of his age to achieve his dream to play for one of the country’s best teams. He was nothing but a true ambassador and an example to the younger players here and we wish him well,” added Mpengesi.

“We were aware about Lorch’s talent before he joined us and he did not prove us wrong. He has a bright future ahead of him and I am delighted that we gave him a platform to showcase his talent.” 

On the four new players joining Chippa, Mpengesi said: “We welcome them to the Chippa United Football Club and we have no doubt that they will all enjoy their stay down in Port Elizabeth. Mthiyane is already familiar with the surroundings here and we welcome him back. We are delighted to have the quadruple [Ed's note: Chabalala, Mthiyane, Sello Japhta, Donald Mokondelela] and we have no doubt that they are going to help strengthen the team and our ambitions.

“We pride ourselves as a gateway for players to achieve their dreams. We will not stand on any player’s ambitions to achieve their dreams. We still want to be successful, we are still ambitious as a football club but we do not neglect the need to give the players a chance at Chippa United Football Club.”
