AmaZulu newcomer Phumlani Gumede is delighted to have penned a three-year contract with the promotion hopefuls.

The centre-back joined the Durban-based outfit on a free transfer following his exit from NFD rivals Real Kings.

“It’s a dream come true to join AmaZulu Football Club since my father’s brother [Sgwili Gumede] also played for AmaZulu,” Gumede told the club's website.

“The atmosphere has been welcoming because of my teammates, they crack jokes with everyone it doesn’t matter if you are new or are a trialist.

“Everything about the team is encouraging. You tend to miss the vibe when we are not at training,” added the 23-year-old, whose twin brother Philani is also training with the side.

Usuthu also recently signed Zimbabwean defender Stephen Makatuka.
