Fit and firing James Keene back from injury, named in Bidvest Wits' squad for 2017

Posted: 25 January 2017 Time: 17:33

Bidvest Wits CEO Jose Ferreira has confirmed to this website that striker James Keene has been registered with the Premier Soccer League for the second-half of the season.

Keene's long-term knee injury prevented the Clever Boys from naming the forward in their league squad for the first part of 2016/17.

However, with the striker back to full fitness and ready to return, Zimbabwean Knox Mutizwa has made way to create a foreign spot.

"That's correct, James [Keene] has been registered with the league again, in place of Knox Mutizwa,” Ferreira confirms to KickOff.com.

Though the Clever Boys managed to win the MTN8 without the prolific striker, who signed an extension with Wits at the end of last season, his return will surely be welcomed with open arms by coach Gavin Hunt.

Keene will be hoping to make his full return to action when Wits resume their Premiership campaign on February 7, with the visit of Ajax Cape Town to the Bidvest Stadium.
