Tsepo Masilela and Willard Katsande are walking in a corridor of darkness regarding the extension of their contracts at Kaizer Chiefs just over five months before their current deals expire.
Masilela is 32 in May while Katsande has just turned 31 and both are considered senior players at the club having been at Naturena for a combined 11 years.
Masilela joined Chiefs in 2012 at the end of his time in Europe, while Katsande was a surprise signing a year earlier from Ajax Cape Town and yet has grown to be a reliable midfield stabiliser.
KickOff.com has been told that both players are waiting on the club to guide.
While he has nagging knee discomfort, Masilela has continued to show his qualities whenever used though he has found himself behind Sibusiso Khumalo at left-back this season.
With regards to Katsande it remains a mystery how the club has chosen to let his contract run up to the last six months without an extension.
The Zimbabwean is apparently being monitored by several clubs in North Africa and in the UAE.
Katsande – who captained The Warriors at the AFCON – has played the most football of all players at the club in the last five years.
Both players are already within their rights to negotiate and sign pre-contracts with other clubs as per the FIFA regulations as they are now into the last six months of their contracts.
