Golden Arrows release Maurico Barrios, hand a trial to ex-Orlando Pirates striker Chiukepo Msowoya

KickOff.com can confirm that Golden Arrows have parted ways with Colombian hitman Maurico Barrios, while they are assessing ex-Orlando Pirates and Malawi striker Chiukepo Msowoya.

Barrios joined the club at the start of the season from Metropolitan FC in his homeland, but he only featured in six league matches and failed to score a goal.

"Yes, we have parted ways with Mauricio," Arrows coach Clinton Larsen tells KickOff.com.

"I think it is obvious things didn’t really work out. He struggled to adapt to our league and you know these things happen. As the club we made a decision to part ways with him and we just wish him well."

He adds of Msowoya: "He started training with us and we are assessing him."

Msowoya was on trial at Larsen's former club Bloemfontein Celtic just under a year ago but a move failed to materialise. He was also linked to Free State Stars in 2016.
