Ajax Cape Town suspect attacking midfielder Toriq Losper should be back in action towards the end of the season as he continues his rehabilitation.
The Ajax number 10 suffered a knee injury in October, just a month after extending his stay with the Urban Warriors, with early signs suggesting he would be out for the rest of the season.
Yet Ajax head of medical Jantho Greyling has revealed the player’s rehab is on track, which could see the 24-year-old return just before the season’s end in May.
“The only real injury concern, long term injury concern, is that of Toriq Losper [meniscal injury to his knee], but his rehab is going very well and we are looking forward to having him back in action for the final few games of the season,” Greyling told the club’s official website.
“Unfortunately it will basically only be for the Premier Soccer League run-in.”
Greyling also gave an update regarding an injury to defender Eric Chipeta.
“The only other injury concern is that of Eric Chipeta who broke his finger in training,” he continued. “He underwent surgery last week, to insert a wire as it is a complex fracture of the finger. He missed the game against Chippa United, but he will be fine to resume training after the Christmas break. He should be fit and healthy come February. Otherwise the rest of the team are all looking good and fit.”
The Urban Warriors resume the 2016/17 season on 7 February with a challenging away trip to Bidvest Wits.
