Mamelodi Sundowns star Percy Tau is topping the assists list midway through the season, narrowly ahead of Aubrey Ngoma, Franklin Cale and Ndumiso Mabena.
Tau has provided nine assists in all competitions in 2016/17, while he has also netted seven goals for the African champions, who have games in hand on their domestic rivals following their exploits in the CAF Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup.
Tau has therefore had a hand in the most goals by an individual this campaign (15), with Golden Boot frontrunner Tendai Ndoro's 12 strikes leaving the Zimbabwean in contention on that front.
Cape Town City's Ngoma, Highlands Park's Cale and Mabena of Platinum Stars share second spot with six assists, one more than Orlando Pirates midfielder Luvuyo Memela.
Memela's teammate Mpho Makola has four assists, as does Bidvest Wits ace Daine Klate, Polokwane City's go-to-man Jabu Maluleke and SuperSport United attackers Jeremy Brockie and Thuso Phala.
Khama Billiat - last season's assist king with 20 in all competitions - has provided two this campaign, in addition to five goals.
Siphiwe Tshabalala, who like Klate provided 15 assists in 2015/16, has two assists this time around for Kaizer Chiefs, along with George Lebese.
