Ajax Cape Town youngster Grant Margeman garners praise from coach Stanley Menzo

Posted: 24 December 2016 Time: 10:13

Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo spoke with pride about the recent rise of young midfielder Grant Margeman following his successful transition into the first team.

Margeman has made the step up this season and acquitted himself well, making seven league appearances so far this season and scoring a goal earlier in December.

In his appraisal of the 18-year-old, former Dutch national assistant coach Menzo was quick to point out that playing central midfield at such a young age was particularly admirable.

“Yeah it’s a little scary, like a big man he's playing in the midfield. He is already carrying the team. You can say that’s perfect and very good for him, very good for us," Menzo stated.

“He from the academy, an academy player and as long as you can keep it at this level but we also have to be a little bit sensible and don’t push him too far because he’s still 18 [years old] and as long as he can do this you see now he get cramps in the 90th minute so he’s getting tired but it’s good.

“And I’m very proud to have a player like this, a young player like this perform."
