KickOff.com can confirm that Ajax Cape Town have secured the services of the Zambian international Roderick Kabwe on a permanent basis.
The 24-year-old Kabwe’s contract with Zanaco FC expires at the end of the month and he has been on trial with the Urban Warriors for the last two weeks.
Ajax head coach Stanley Menzo recently told our website that he was impressed with the Zambian.
“He was offered to us and I just want have a close look at him,” Menzo told KickOff.com.
“You can see videos of some… if we have to bring someone in I always want to have eye, look him in the eye. But he gave me a very good impression this morning,” said the former Dutch assistant coach.
A source close to Ajax has however confirmed the midfielder is now officially on Ajax’s books.
“Yes, Kabwe has been signed on a permanent basis. He brings an exciting element to the team,” the source concludes.
With Kabwe’s arrival Ajax will be forced to offload at least one of their foreigners to comply with the allotted number of five foreign players.
It’s also been rumoured things are looking bleak for Zimababwe’s Thomas Chideu and the Portuguese player Joaquim Lupeta.
Our website understands Kenyan national player Ali Abondo will be given a fair chance after being plagued by injuries whilst there is also uncertainty looming over injured Zimbabwean defender Eric Chipeta.
