SuperSport United midfielder Cole Alexander says "I'll take it" after scoring against his former club Polokwane City with an attempted cross last night.
Alexander cancelled out Rodney Ramagalela's early opener in a 2-1 win for Matsatsantsa, who ensured they end 2016 at the summit via Jeremy Brockie's 69th minute decider at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
"No, I meant to cross the ball but I will take it," Alexander told SuperSport TV, referring to his 36th minute delivery from an acute angle, which swerved beyond George Chigova and sneaked in at the far post.
Meanwhile, the ex-Ajax Cape Town man believes Stuart Baxter's side are yet to hit top gear despite topping the standings with 25 points from 14 games.
"We have a good squad and there is so much room for improvement. We are in a good space, we have an awesome coach and a good bunch of players. With the players we have I know we can get much more and go much further."
The 27-year-old has faith United will hit the ground running when they resume their league campaign at home against Golden Arrows on February 8.
"Sometimes the break is not good, but in other cases it can be good for us. We will go into the break still switched on but come back even harder," concluded Alexander, who left Rise and Shine in the off-season.
