Thamsanqa Sangweni promises even more for Chippa United

Posted: 21 December 2016 Time: 13:38

Chippa United midfielder Thamsanqa Sangweni says he is yet to reach his full potential despite impressive displays for the Chill Boys of late.

Sangweni has picked up several Man-of-the-Match awards this season, the latest in his side’s 2-0 win over Highlands Park in their last match-up, yet the 27-year-old feels there’s lots more to come.

“I think I can still do more,” he is quoted as saying on his club’s website.
“I do all I can to contribute to the success of the team but this is not possible without the support from my teammates.

“I am getting lot of support from my teammates and the technical team has been equally fantastic.

“I do not think I am playing my best football yet. There are areas of my game that need polishing, and I work hard every day to improve. I believe that I can do more.”

Having been rewarded for his efforts with a contract extension, Sangweni is targeting victory against former club Ajax Cape Town in their last encounter of the year.

“Ajax Cape Town away will be even more difficult,” he continued. “They were good to me. I am forever grateful. That will go out the window on Wednesday though. We are hunting for points.”

The midfielder says he’s excited to partner up with Sandile Zuke in midfield following his return to the club.

“He is a seasoned footballer and we welcome his return to the side,” he said. “He knows the Chippa way, and it’s been good to share the pitch with him again.

“We have lot of talent in the team though, and I enjoy partnering with anyone given the nod. We all have one objective, to defend the Chippa United badge and we go to Cape Town with the same conviction.”

Kick off for the game at Cape Town Stadium is set for 19:30.
