Lantshene Phalane ecstatic after helping Bloemfontein Celtic defeat Orlando Pirates

Posted: 20 December 2016 Time: 22:48

Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder Lantshene Phalane joked that he may be a 'bogey' player for Orlando Pirates after he scored from inside his own half against the Buccaneers.

With Lantshene having bagged that curios equaliser following Oupa Manyisa's opener, Celtic found a late winner courtesy of Tshepo Rikhotso to claim a 2-1 win at the Orlando Stadium.

The 26-year-old naturally dedicated the Man of the Match award he won for his efforts to all of his teammates and offered a little insight into what coach Lehlohonolo Seema had done to motivate them.

"This is dedicated to my teammates because of the workrate of the guys," Lantshene told SuperSport TV following the match. "We had just come back from a loss, 3-0 at home [to Ajax]. Today the coach just said: 'You know what guys, just go out there and have fun.' We did out best and the Lord gave us two goals - victorious again."

Despite the win Phalane recognises that after the break he and his colleagues have a tremendous amount of work to do.

"Every game is a mountain to climb. We need the three points because we are down near the relegation [zone]. Today we got the three points. Every time I get the Man of the Match it is against Orlando Pirates, I don't know what's going on," he said with a chuckle. "Maybe I'm their 'bogey' man, who knows!"

Meanwhile, Celtic goalkeeper Patrick Tignyemb was naturally pleased with the result after the 3-0 home loss to Ajax Cape Town on the weekend.

The Cameroonian said: "We are very happy. We lost on Saturday against Ajax playing at home. This victory was a good boost for our confidence to come back from the defeat. I am really proud of the guys and hope we are going to continue like that when we come back."
