Dikwena rally against Highlands

Highlands Park let slip a two-goal lead against fellow strugglers Platinum Stars in a 2-2 draw in Tembisa on Tuesday night.

Highlands raced ahead via quick-fire strikes from Mothobi Mvala and Charlton Mashumba.

However, Malawian midfielder Robert Ng'ambi reduced the deficit in the 33rd minute before Benson Shilongo equalised just before the interval at Makhulong Stadium.

Earlier, Solomon Mathe rattled the crossbar with a shot from outside the area for the visitors.

Dikwena continued to press after the restart, as Henrico Botes, Shilongo and Ndumiso Mabena tried their luck without reward, with the latter's set-piece finding its way onto the upright around the hour-mark.

After their final game of 2016, Highlands are just above the drop zone with 13 points from 15 fixtures - a point behind Platinum.

Bottom club Free State Stars (11 points) and Baroka FC (12 points) will end the year at home against Cape Town City and Mamelodi Sundowns respectively on Wednesday night.
