Free State Stars coach Giovanni Solinas has reserved praise for new signings Rooi Mahamutsa and Thamsanqa Teyise after their club debuts.
Mahamutsa and Teyise played integral parts as Ea Lla Koto kept their first clean sheet in 12 matches when they beat Baroka FC 1-0 in an Absa Premiership clash at the James Motlatsi Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Solinas admitted his delight at the performance of the duo, and feels their top-level experience was just what the team needed and have been lacking this season.
“They have brought the stability at the back,” said the Italian tactician, according to his club website. “We were clinical when defending set pieces, which was a great concern.
“The two players' experience was key in the win, and that’s what we needed all along. It was an impressive debut for them and one hopes they continue doing a splendid job so we can achieve our goal of moving out of the relegation zone.”
Stars have now moved off the foot of the league table, after collecting six points in their last three games, and next visit Bidvest Wits, who they beat 3-1 in the Telkom Knockout earlier this season.
