Bidvest Wits defender Sifiso Hlanti feels the two defeats against SuperSport United and Cape Town City FC were the wake-up call his side needed to continue their Absa Premiership quest.
The six points lost in their last two games saw the Clever Boys drop down to third, yet still have three points in hand over current leaders City, who are just four points ahead.
“Those past two games were not good, and coach [Gavin Hunt] wasn’t happy about the results,” Hlanti tells KickOff.com. “But he told us that this is football and you win some, and you lose some.”
Wits tackle Golden Arrows in KwaZulu-Natal on Wednesday night, with Hlanti pointing out that each game in the Absa premiership presents a different challenge.
“We at Bidvest Wits always tell ourselves that each and every game is not going to be an easy game in which it helped us a lot,” he said. “So even now we will play this game against Arrows knowing that it’s not going to be an easy game.”
Hlanti hopes his side can get their season back on track by collecting a full quota of points at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
“We will try by all means to make sure that we don’t lose the game,” he said.
“Coach told us to go there and do our best because we didn’t do well in our last two games. So for us those two games were a wake-up call. We are going to try by all means to make things right although it’s not going to be an easy game, but we will try and do our very best.”
Kick-off is set for 19:30.
