Supersport United midfielder Cole Alexander says he and his teammates will take some painful lessons from their Telkom Knockout final defeat to Cape Town City.
Matsatsantsa were always second best in the final that was contested at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, a game that ended 2-1 and saw City claim their maiden trophy.
The City Boyz went ahead early in the game but SuperSport did eventually hit back in the second stanza only to find themselves back behind a matter of moments later.
"It's a bit disappointing that we couldn't win the match but we learned from the whole thing," Alexander tells KickOff.com. "It was disappointing to lose, as our coach said it's either we win or we learn."
According to Alexander the biggest lesson they were dealt on Saturday was to not switch off during critical phases - immediately after scoring being one such phase.
By the account of the former Polokwane City man it was a collective lapse in concentration that cost the side.
"We switched off just after we've equalised and allowed them to score again. We switched off as a team," Alexander admitted.
