Baroka FC are planning to snap up Mozambican striker Helder Pelembe in the January transfer window.
KickOff.com yesterday revealed Bakgaga have released seven players as they look to bring in fresh blood.
According to a well-placed source at the club, interest in Pelembe has not waned since the two parties met in Johannesburg on November 16 to discuss a prospective deal.
"They will sign him. They just want to offload a few players first. They told him so also in that meeting," says the source.
This website contacted Pelembe, who declined to discuss his future.
Baroka chairman Morgan Mammila could not be reached for comment.
Pelembe was last training with Africa Sport Youth Development Academy, having been released by Orlando Pirates after a potential move to Golden Arrows collapsed in August.
The 29-year-old first arrived in South Africa in August 2013, when he signed for Roses United in the National First Division, before joining Pirates four months later. He also had a stint on loan at Bloemfontein Celtic.
