Robyn Johannes reached a personal milestone over the weekend by cleaning up all the trophies on offer in domestic football when Cape Town City claimed the Telkom KnockOut crown.
In winning the Telkom cup with City Johannes has now won all the four trophies that are offered in the local game from the championship, top 8 (MTN8), league cup (Telkom KnockOut) and the national cup (Nedbank Cup) – a rare achievement in this country.
Johannes won the league in 2005-06 and 2006-07 at Mamelodi Sundowns and then the 2007 SAA Supa 8 Cup and the 2008 Nedbank Cup – still with The Brazilians.
After moving to Orlando Pirates at the start of the 2010/11 season he won the 2010 MTN8, 2011 Nedbank and the league in what was the first year of the trouble treble era for The Bucs.
Since that single season that he spent at Pirates the 30 year-old has been to Golden Arrows, back with The Bucs for a year again although he didn’t play, then at Maritzburg United and AmaZulu.
After getting relegated with Usuthu and playing in the first division with them last season Johannes has been back having a bite in the PSL this term.
Though he only started featuring for City in October – Johannes has proven to have been a wise signing for the new PSL franchise.
Johannes has three Bafana Bafana caps to his name and has also played for the national Under-20 and Under-23 squads.
