Cape Town City defender Tshepo Gumede is well aware the Telkom Knockout champions must swiftly regain their focus and he backs new signing Luyolo Nomandela to impress in the Mother City.
City, who were formed in June with the purchase of Mpumalanga Black Aces' topflight status, picked up their first trophy by defeating SuperSport United 2-1 in the Telkom Knockout final on Saturday.
However, Eric Tinkler's charges have had little chance to celebrate as they next host struggling Platinum Stars in the league at Athlone Stadium tomorrow (19h30) looking to pull clear of SuperSport at the Absa Premiership summit.
"I can say we know what to do [to avoid complacency]," Gumede tells KickOff.com.
"Even the coach has warned us of such a thing. It's up to us as players to remain calm and focused. Saturday's achievement must work as an extra motivation for us."
The City Boyz today announced the capture of former Mamelodi Sundowns winger Nomandela. Gumede has welcomed the addition to the squad.
"I know what kind of a player he is. He is good, we all know he is talented. But it's the coach who knows what the team needs, as players we only need to support each other."
