Cape Town City owner John Comitis paid tribute to club coach Eric Tinkler and extended a special thanks to all the others that have contributed to their capture of the Telkom Knockout title.
The City Boyz ran out 2-1 winners over SuperSport United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium to claim a first trophy only months into their existence and Comitis was understandably overjoyed.
"I'm elated. This crowd here today in Polokwane, they really got behind the boys. They play fantastic football you have to praise that. When guys come out and play entertaining football we have got to go for that and they've been doing that for a while," he told SuperSport TV.
"The whole of Cape Town is behind these boys and they feel it and they have this energy and it is unbeleivable how they have come out. Unlucky to SuperSport it wasn't their day but I've got to commend my coach because he's an absolute master."
Speaking about whether he expected any type of success so early after the formation of the club, Comitis admitted that it came as asurprise even to him whilst extending his gratitude to the various parties that have helped the club.
"I didn't think that we would do that [win a trophy] so quickly but I do know that we were building from the bottom up with the support I'm getting from Cape Town. From the city, to SAFA Cape Town, from the teams that are from lower down that are supplying us with players - I can only be grateful," he said.
