Platinum Stars striker Benson Shilongo believes that the side that recruited him prior to the current campaign have what it takes to drag themselves out of their current slump.

“We need to stamp our authority. We need to man up. We have the quality and the finesse but probably we just lack the confidence," he told the club's official website.

"We will get there. We just have to keep on pushing. We have a bunch of talented lads so we just need to get together and start winning games."

The 24-year-old got his name on the scoresheet twice against Polokwane City in a match Dikwena lost 3-2 and called on his teammates not to let their heads drop.

“When we are playing home, we need to stamp our authority. We need to start winning our home games. It starts from home and going out. We need to regroup and keep our heads high," said Shilongo.

"It’s only us who can change things. There’s nobody who can help us. We have to keep soldering on till we get the right combinations. There’s always a chance. It’s never over until the first lady sings. There’s always an opportunity to get into the game."

Despite things not going in favour of Stars recent the Namibian international is enjoying good form in front of goal and he credits the influence of his new teammates for his success.

“So far so good. The guys have been helping me. They have been pushing me. I have three goals and I still have to keep pushing. It comes with more game time. Just to get match fitness. I need to work on a few aspects of my game but the coaches are helping me in doing that. It’s my first season in the PSL. I am getting the necessary help that I need but I will improve on certain aspects,” said Shilongo.
