Chippa United's Tshwarelo Bereng hails Katlego Mashego, Sandile Zuke signings

Chippa United midfielder Tshwarelo Bereng says new signings Katlego Mashego and Sandile Zuke have added experience and quality to the team.

The Chilli Boys recruited striker Mashego, 34, and midfielder Zuke, 29, in November.

Mashego, a former Bafana Bafana international, was a free agent following the expiry of his contract at Mamelodi Sundowns in July, while ex-Kaizer Chiefs man Zuke returned to Chippa after leaving them at the end of 2015/16.

"They have not only added experience but quality to the side. There is always conversation between the younger players and the senior players on and off the field here," Bereng told his club's website.

"I am lucky to have known Katlego during our time at Moroka Swallows in 2013/2014 season. He is always open to advise the younger players and together with other senior players are always there to assist."

Meanwhile, Bereng was delighted to score his first PSL goal in a 3-1 win over Chiefs at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on the weekend.

Bereng's progress in Port Elizabeth has been hampered by injury following his arrival in the off-season from NFD outfit Cape Town All Stars.

"It was a great feeling to score my first goal in the PSL. I had waited for a long time for this goal having made my debut in the PSL during the 2013/2014 season.

"People at home said it was time and I know that now I have to work even harder to improve all aspects of my game. I have already moved on from Saturday and focusing on our next game [against Polokwane City on December 14].

"My feet are firmly on the ground. We are back in training this afternoon and I need to work even harder. We want to do better than we did last season and we believe that is not impossible.

"My first ambition is for the team to do well and secondly be nominated for an individual award in May," he added.
